Why did you choose this facility?

|
Court Ordered |

Tell us about the experience - was it positive or negative?
|
|
As stated above the experience is not the same
as being a white person. I was also "treated"
by the counselor Charles Hoard, who was
accompanied by Mr. Lee and a NON COUNSELOR,
rated as a case manager Angie. The problem I
saw was there was absolutely no rehabilitation
involved. The counselors are ex offenders/drug
addicts who were able to overcome their offenses
and become employees of this company. They were
extremely rude in everything they did. Most of
the time they only made you feel as though you
could only get out if you did as they asked.
They basically threatened most with complacence
or you would end up serving an additional thirty
days as you needed to go back to see your judge
and they held the KEY by sending their progress
reports to your judge. I watched an inmate who
had great artistic skills be held 60 days past
his original sentence because "they" needed him
to create posters for the floor we were on.
Because I was white, I felt that I was singled
out in cases. Time and time again I was asked
to date case materials to my situation by back
dating, thus seeing that they were not doing
their job in a timely, efficient manor. I also
knew extensively about numerous accounts
of "them" not sending off the records to the
courts within the time permitted to the inmate’s
judges, thus making the inmate have to stay an
additional amount of time until their next court
date. That may be fine for "them" who are able
to walk out the door and go home but for the
inmate this generally meant another court date
which was on average 30 more days in
incarceration. We were asked to "PERFORM" our
routine just before some Asian dignitaries’ were
to come and review the program for "PURCHASE".
The ignorance I was able to see on this floor
with these counselors was so unacceptable that
it was sickening. The county and others must
take a real hard look at where their hard earned
TAX DOLLARS are going because in my opinion it
is surely being wasted within this floor and
with this group of counselors. I felt because I
was an inmate who actually made more per year
than they did that I was not to be a person
heard from or was able to speak my mind. This
mind you on top of the fact that most of the
DCSI officers on the floor where just as rude
and obnoxious (That is another blog within
itself). |

Do you feel the program was successful?
|
|
Not in the least amount!! I specifically stated
that my first action upon release was to go
relapse and their only answer was: We’ll be
seeing you back here again". There was not one
iota of one on one counseling done here. Not
ONE!! |
|
What advice would you give somebody considering going to this facility?
|
|
Not what I would ever consider a treatment
facility. Take your time in another division
unless you are of black descendent or as the
counselors say, "If you don't like it, bond out".
