Interview from Valerie
Are you male or female?
Valerie: Female

How old were you when you attended this facility?
Valerie: Thirty

Describe your addiction:
Valerie: I was addicted to the prescription pain medicines vicodin and Percocet.

Why did you choose to go to rehab?
Valerie: I went on a trip and left my bag with my meds at home. The withdrawali experienced was crazy. Complete personality changr. When we got home, my partner went through my meds and was alarmed by the number of pills I had been prescribed. He took me to a different doctor, and I entered rehab a couple of daya later. The original prescribing physician has since had his liscence suspended and is facing criminal charges.

Why did you choose this facility?
Valerie: I wanted a facility close to home and it being a christian ministry appealee to my spiritual side. I also knew a couple of the women who run the facility and knew they would call me on my bullshit, so I couldn't fake my way through the program.

How long were you in this rehab facility? Inpatient or outpatient?
Valerie: Three months inpatient, then six months in transitional

What is this facility's approach to the treatment process?
Valerie: There are one on one counseking sessions plus group sessions. There are mandatory bible study and worship service attendance. When in patient service is completes, you are moved to transitional housing and given help with job placement and being exposed to realnworld temptaions, and uou are assigned a mentor from one of the participating the churches for moral and spiritual support

What do you think this rehab facility does well?
Valerie: Teaches you how to live on your own again, and teaching personal accountability

What could this facility do better?
Valerie: As much as I love the spiritual aspect of the program, it is focused on a littlebtoo heavily. There were days it felt like a cult prison

Overall do you feel your treatment here was successful or not?
Valerie: Yes. I think it was. Mainly because of the assigned mentor, and because the staff doesn't just forget about you once you leave. There are periodic check ups to see if you are fairing well.

Did you relapse after treatment?
Valerie: I haven't had a relapse so far, though I have come close. Once you start feeling yourself needing to lie or hide activities is when you need to go see your mentor/sponsor, get to a meeting, remove yourself from the situation and people trying to drag you back down

Would you recommend this facility to a friend or a family member?
Valerie: Yes, absolutely.

What general advice would you give to somebody dealing with addiction?
Valerie: There is no shame in asking for help. It's one of the bravest and hardest things you can do, but do it.

Have you been to any other rehab facilities?
Valerie: None.
