Interview from Mom
Why did you choose this facility?
Mommy: I chose this for my son as he needed to go to treatment because he failed a court-ordered drug test.
Tell us about the experience - was it positive or negative?
Do you feel the program was successful?
Mommy: The program claims to be a holistic one that helps heal the "mind, body and spirit." They did a phone screening with my son and spoke with me at length about his issues. They said they accepted our insurance but needed $1300 for what insurance would not cover. He was admitted. In less than a week, they said my son needed a complete psychiatric exam for $2500. I asked if they could talk with the psychiatrist he was working with a month earlier and they said no. Then they kicked him out. They said he was "committed to his sobriety" but had a bad attitude and was caught "horsing around with another 20 year old man in the dining hall." They gave no recommendations about alternative placements and then charged a $3500 "early termination fee." This place is all about the money - nothing else.
What advice would you give somebody considering going to this facility?
Mommy: There are a lot of people out there masquerading as "treatment providers" when all they are is profit mongers. Mountainside is one of them. Stay away. We knew two other young people who went and both relapsed within weeks of leaving. Stay away.
