Why did you choose this facility?
|
|
Convenience and free |
|
Tell us about the experience - was it positive or negative?
|
|
Pretty negative. They are what the state uses for
lost causes. The management is hideous. The
front desk workers were nice for the most part
except for one large black woman used as a
bouncer. If she didn't like a few people's
actions, she would remove everyone's privileges,
yet a selected few could get away with anything.
Many people use it if they have no place to live,
so it's not JUST a rehab. You are not even
allowed to try to re-establish your life until
being there for 30 days. Which basically forced
me to lose my apartment and my cat died. It is
not a lock down facility, but it was made known
that if you leave, you will cause more problems if
you return. I left to take care of my personal
items left behind and upon my return, was forced
to sleep on the floor for 17 days until I chose to
leave. It's more comfortable on a park bench.
The food is less than edible. |

Do you feel the program was successful?
|
|
Not at all. |
|
What advice would you give somebody considering going to this facility?
|
|
Make sure there is someone on the outside to take
care of your business/home for you and expect to
be housed with homeless people. It is also used
as a Cold Shelter for the homeless and if you're
still on the floor, you sleep with them. Also,
there is no detox, it is cold turkey and 3 AA/CA
or NA meetings a day mandatory. If you are
anorexic, you'll be fine, if you like to eat
decent food, you'll die. One night we had cream
corn mixed with tuna on a hamburger bun because
they said they had no supplies. Decaf coffee only
and unless you have money to buy cream and sugar
for the entire building, there will be none of
that. Also, you can have cigarettes brought in by
family, but not food. You are at their mercy.
