Interviews from Jocao, Kiki, Pat, Em
Why did you choose this facility?
Jocao: Family threw me in there
Kiki: There program USED to be good, but it has all gone to shit.
Pat: Location, insurance provider, not much time for research. I went voulentarily as I was going to be resentenced on PTR for multiple positive drops.
Emmy: at a time when they were cutting most programs this had one spot and I took it. personal choice

Tell us about the experience - was it positive or negative?
Jocao: Absolutely negative
Kiki: I was laying in my bed for the three days that was alloted for people on medicaid, where i vomited and vomitted for all three days i wias there the only people that even came into my room were disgruntled workers getting tired of cleaning up so much puke, a bed where i began hallucinaning due to dehydration and no one did anyrtthing about it, NO ONE CARED, when i was being released i looked like a rad doll in a wheelchair, i couldnt talk or walk, and when we got to the elevator, they tried to convince my dad that i should be re admitted to the hospital and put on a psychiatric hold, but my dad said no.. When we got into the car I though we were going to some crappy hotel, because i didnt even know where i was, i thought i was in another city, and when we pulled up to are apartment i wAs SO confused as to how it had appeared, so when we had passed it and gone to the hospital i was immediatly rused me in the back, i suppose the projectile voimmiting was scaring off people, i was still halluvcinating so it was hard for me to talk, but they had told me that i was oonly a few minutes for death due to dehyration, and the doctors there wer5e shhoked that holy family hospital could have saw my condition and was never given an iv. After about five bags of fluids, i was still throwing up but i stopped haluucinating. KEYS USED to be a good place, and ive been everywhere, but now....the places that only take indigents are a million times beter, and i thought id never say that. The Keys to recovery program should be shut f**king down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pat: Yes, They have good structure, flexable schedule, awesome visiting policy (my girlfriend brought me take out everyday. Fridays, Pizza, McDonalds, Portillos. It was almost wrong how comfortable it was. You could even smoke cigarettes back when I was there. We left the facility for bowling once during my 2 week stay
Emmy: I found it very positive but that could have been because I had great insurance at the time. I was treated well and had my own room the whole 28 days. No real free time constant classes but it kept you busy and tired.

Do you feel the program was successful?
Jocao: Absolutely.....not
Kiki: HELL F**KING NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pat: You can't expect success without desire to succeed. They stress AA/NA which I believe is a program that gives a great chance for success; however, you must be willing and ready for it to be worth the commitment. I did not stay clean but that wasn't my attention at the time.
Emmy: I do not feel any rehab is successful unless you work the program. Rehab is just not the real world. It is a protective environment and once you go back into the real world unless you are diligent in your IOP you are destine to fail. As I did and still occasionally do

What advice would you give somebody considering going to this facility?
Jocao: Make up in your mind that you will quit using because it all comes down to you anyway.
Kiki: DO not come, do not pas go.........find another faciclity and as for people who had been there in the past, when they had IVS and a smoking room, IT is ALL gone. But seriosly, DO NOT GO to KEYS.
Pat: Don't waste your time or money if you are not committed to doing whatever it takes. You must completly surrender to their advice. With any plan, if not followed exactly (modified on own) the results will not be as expected (modifed on own). They are very willing to work with you and most staff are recovered so they have some concept of where we are coming from. Go in with an open mind.
Emmy: Bring money and a phone card or have someone bring it to you. When on the detox side you can sleep as much as you want and can still go out for smoke breaks. When you go to the rehab side just realize you will be in "classes" all the time.
